Rovers finally come
The eagerly awaited league tie between The pars and Raith Rovers was origianally ment to be played on the 2nd of January and was re scheduled for the 2nd of March but freezing conditions caused both games to be postponed. Finally after over 2 months the game looks to be set to be played tonight at East end park with a 7.45pm k.o. All tickets origianally ment for the first tie on the 2nd of January are still valid but if you would like a refund you have until kick off tonight at the ticket office located at the stadium. The Pars have won their last two home games and 5 in their last 10 where as Raith have won just 3. Rovers have been having a very good scottish cup run which sees them in the semi - finals, but will they carry that momentum through to tonights game ? A good fixture lies ahead but who will come out on top.

Why are we called THE PARS ?
The majority of present day supporters consider the name Pars to be a derivative of the shout "Paralytics" which has been the cry from the terracings during the all to often spells of indifferent form. Others have suggested that Athletic were a very physical team and "paralysed" their opponents by virtue of their rough play. Or is it because of the parrarell stripes on our strips.
No matter which may be the correct reason for the Pars, each theory has its exponents who are convinced that theirs is right. Few seem to agree and some solutions sound decidedly fishy - like the suggestion that the team were named after young salmon - parr- which have black and white stripes. What is clear though is that the nickname has borne the test of time and vastly changing fortunes.
Fife Derby Re-Scheduled AGAIN !!!
Yet again the weather played a huge part in Scottish football with temperatures dropping to as low as minus 4 degrees. The game was originally ment to be played on the 2nd of January and yet the re-scheduled game for the 2nd of March was also called off. The game has yet again been re-arranged for the 16th of March at East End Park with tickets from the original fixture still being elligible for the tie. If you want to get a refund then you have until the re-arranged fixture to get your money back.
The game should go ahead if the weather doesn't go the wrong way again but we will have to wait and see.

Win away to Morton
A good 3 points for the pars at Cappielow in Greenock as the pars faced a tough game against in form Morton. The game got off on a high with Dunfermline having most of the possesion and attempts on goal but in the end the two teams went in goalless at half time. Morton boss Iain Buchan must have given his team a good talking to at half time as not long into the second half Morton took the lead with a header into the far side of the goal. This seemed to lift the pars and on 70 minutes they equallised with a goal from Andy Kirk and just seven minutes later on his debut return to the feild for the pars Gary Mason scored to put the pars 2-1 up. A good win for the team ahead of tuesdays nights game with our fife rivals Raith Rovers. Well Done pars !!!
